Growing up in a family of photographers, gave me an appreciation for good work from the start. My dad, Owen Fogleman, studied under some of the nations finest portrait photographers. He set the bar high, and to this day, in my mind, was one of the finest portrait photographers ever. When I earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the photography merit badge was unique, few earned it. My dad purchased a studio in DeLand, Fl, and I needed a job. Mopping the floors was were he started me. After several months, he moved me to the darkroom. In hind sight, the best place to learn photography. High school was where I practiced my craft.

As the only yearbook and school newspaper photographer, there were many wonderful opportunities to show off. I won first in state competition in the creative division, and third in state in the color division. With Vietnam looming, and being called a real possibility, I avoided the service by going to college. My degree was in accounting. Although, God has a plan for me, it was to prepare me for running a business. He had already provided the skill as a photographer. Dad retired in 1982, and sold me the studio.

He has watched the digital age come to fruition with great fascination. We laugh about the old days using 4 *5 film plates and flash bulbs under the black tent. We once had four high school contracts at once. Now I gave all those up to again practice the art of photography. I love my job, and my wife loves my work. She helps me at weddings. My graphic artist makes me look good. I no longer work, because this is too much fun to be called work.
